Medievalists meet Robin Hood

King Arthur and Robin Hood are buddies, yo
AKA
An attempt at lighting practice and drawing lots of forests. In other news, forests are hard to draw - do not draw things that have them.

For your consideration: A TH White / Merlin mashup

Also known as that time when King Arthur and Robin Hood met and went hunting boars in the Forest Sauvage. WiPs ugh. Now with vague attempts at lighting. And yes, King Arthur is Bradley James inspired, did the blonde hair give it away?

And if you haven't read The Once and Future King - do so! Magneto says so.

In which Gunjan draws things and then MASSIVE Stuff Happens

Two random things I drew when Neil Gaiman came to UDub, Seattle. I did not think they would receive  this much love, considering they began life as awkward doodles on a sketchbook.

Note to self: Carry sketchbook everywhere.

Also Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer are awesome.

Be warned, for here be Dragons

"Her wings, fully-extended, were shockingly wide, and hovering over Arthur — soaked in blood, clearly flagging, his hair matted to his face — she was breathing outward, flames in an arc, as another half-dozen men with swords, already dull, froze, astonished."

An alternate version of the same, but with more trees.

How do you like them Fine-Apples?

Illustrator and contour drawing. I expect there to be alot more of contour drawing in the Future of this World. Sidebar; ILLUSTRATOR IS AWESOME.

PSYCH the ANIMATED ANIMATION

Dabbling in Motion graphics and AE, plus the ending of Psych resulted in this. Good shit Psych is, and hopefully this captures a wee bit of Psych's idiocy. Above is a half assed attempt at the Santa Barbara skyline. Illustrator is also being explored, so the characters were done in the same. I didn't bother with the likenesses as much as I could have, but I'm starting to feel the love between After Effects and Illustrator. YAY FOR VECTORS!

Fan Post!

Yes, so all of my roots emerge from fandom - and since I have done little else but fan-art for a while, let me just pay tribute to some of my fandoms right here:

X files meets MIB meets Fringe.

The sketch was composed in PS, and inked in Illustrator after. I couldn't decide whether to do it in colour or in monochrome so I did it both. In other news, Illustrator is fun! Characters from left t right:

Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, Agent K, Agent J, Lincoln Lee , Olivia Dunham, Walter Bishop and Peter Bishop (blue 'verse).

A wee bit of the original idea in higher resolution for y'all. The original idea stemmed from me wondering what would happen if Fox Mulder happened to meet the MiB. I mean, seriously - that's just asking for trouble. Or maybe he's already met them several times and has no idea :P

And a random coloured doodle of Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr from X-men First Class (Roadtrip times) for your viewing pleasure. This was inked by hand and coloured digitally on PS. Done solely because the film was awesome. Now go watch ittttt.

Beach.

Beach party. Because I wish I was at one. Plus everything's more fun with a bit of controversy. And fire.
Thoroughly random illustration done in watercolour and inks.

Because Nathan Fillion Because

Comic Strip style poster for Sandhya Ramachandran's wonderfully haunting film Oviyam. Her undying love for Nathan Fillion's Rick Castle is matched only by my undying love for him in Firefly :P

Done entirely in PS, with very little imagination and finesse :P

Black Widow

Black Widow being a BAMF. Because I loved her in the film. And because Scarlett Johannson is always awesome. Yes, that is Hawkeye's bow.

Lighting practice again. Plus tried out a couple of new brushes as well. Kind of happy with how it turned out, actually. Aside from vague anatomy issues :/

I will punish you with my puns dammit.

Heeeeeey look I made a bad pun! X-Men First Class fan art, because well I like bad puns, and then I thought Charles Xavier probably likes bad puns and then inflicts them on Magneto and all that lead to two grown men sitting on lemons. Go figure.
Done in PS CS4.

Unterwassjagd

Title translation: "Underwater Hunting".

An oldish doodle I found lying around, cleaned up and coloured in lieu of lighting practice. Dunno how much it works and all, but it was really-really-really fun to colour! That and my ♥ for ALL kinds of sharks Has anyone realised Michael Fassbender looks like a shark will last forever until the end of time.

Norse Gods need to be low key

Loki, from Thor, because Loki was amazing to begin with, and then Tom Hiddleston made him more amazing. Mostly due to desire to do realistic art after looking at super cool concept art from the same film.

TL;DR Loki plays with the Tesseract and plots how to kill the Avengers in his Evul Lair of Ice and Such Things. :P

Sketch Dump: XMFC oriented

Sketching in the awesome Bechain Nagri sketchbook. Random doodles stemming from my love of XM:FC and drawing girls in stockings. Much ♥ for sketchpens; especially coptic markers and CMYK colour scheme.

Comic: The Curse of the Sexy Helmet

The continuing comics of the Sexy Helmet series, by yours truly and Anish . It began with this One, and then evolved to #2.
Done in inks and stabilo markers. Must be neater with panelling.

Illustration: Carpe that beer.

Done for fun, in inks and stabilo and coloured/touched up in Photoshop. Basically for a story someone wrote and also at my own attempts at making something not entirely sketchy.

The Return of the Colour Pencil!

While the film goes on, colour pencil and X Men First Class art abounds. Liking brush pen. Must buyyyyy brush pennnnnn. No reference used.
Edit: Detailing on Charles Xavier (that short, british chappie below with the pissy exp. on his face) done by the Magnificent Anish.

Illustration: More digitial colouring practice

Colouring in an attempt to use different colours. I must go beyond pink and blue, so I added yellow to the mix. WB's Supernatural was a reasonable enough reason to draw things, that and drawing Jared Padalecki is always fun! No reference used either for bg or characters. Feedback would be welcome.
As per norm, the likenesses of Jared Padalecki/Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles/Dean Winchester do not belong to me. The art however, does.

Sketch Dump: Coptics and SPN

Some drawings done in my new Bechain Nagri sketch books!

1 Inside cover of the sketch book. Lyrics from REO Speedwagon song of the same name.

 2. Digitally screwed around version of Sam Winchester pencils on bilt.

3.  Pencils of well... a kiss. Duh. Charcoal pencil on Bilt. To clarify - This is with photo reference because I.love.Jared.Padalecki's.Face.  And I liked the composition. Just sayin'.

 4. The full moon was really, really full today. It was supposed to be the biggest full moon ever. So I drew it. Done in copic markers on bilt.

Old things I wanted to be on here

Digital art from before NID. Just collecting stuff and putting it in one place like a good girl :)

(1) Mostly inspired from the song 'Starter' by the Cardigans.
(2) Harry Potter fanart (Remus & Tonks)
(3) Iron Man fanart (well, it was a great movie. I couldn't help myself)
(4) Done in the days of Neil Gaiman and Dali and Apocalypse-y inspired work.
